An Introduction to Anime For Newbies

Your Name is a 2016 Japanese animated film directed and written by Makoto Shinkai. Whose also known for other bodies of work such as 5 centimeters apart, Weathering with you and The Garden of Words.

Director Shinkai introduces a young boy living in Tokyo and a young girl living in a rural town , who change bodies 2-3 times a week.

Both characters are introduced in different settings with individual back stories and relationships. However, Shinkai uses this method to hold the hands of newcomers who may be shy to anime.

Expectations are kicked out the door in regards to newcomers. They are able to really build a connection with the characters and enjoy the story in its simplicity.

The impact of Shinkai’s work shows his ability to include anime lovers and new comers into a magical world. Those , who have not watched the movie should consider it.

It brings you in with its loveable characters and genius plot. By the end, you are left with your heart changed.
